This display in the front window of ICOSA, the latest in their longtime series, is viewable 24/7. And here Taylor Holland (a former Austin Chronicle art director, no less!) works the intricate craft of frame-making in the context of contemporary art, filling antique frames with their own content using custom molds built from digital processes.

Window Dressing XXIX: Fra[mes]

This is an exhibition of new work by Darcie Book and Vy Ngo, in which the artists invite you to experience an abstract landscape that considers the limitless possibilities of existence in a space without confines – beautifully rendered here with sculptural painting, installations, and natural materials.

ICOSA: Borderless

Leon Alesi and John Mulvany aim to unearth, uncover, and breathe new life into images and artifacts that may have seemed invisible, hidden and unknowable. Alesi’s photographs, collages, assemblages and found objects embody a sophisticated folk-art sensibility suggestive of an imagined past that echoes into the present. Mulvany’s paintings originate in extensive photographic research from Victorian-era natural history museums and West Texas taxidermy shops.

ICOSA: Darkages

Ariel Wood makes objects and structures that evoke plumbing and drainage, here (in the shopfront window of ICOSA, viewable 24/7) exploring the stormwater infrastructure systems known as detention basins.

Window Dressing XXX: To Suggest a Delay

This new group show, curated by the Contemporary Austin's Alex Klein, features works by Sarah Benson, Sonya Berg, Bryan Florentin, Stephanie Germosen, Grayson Hunt, Mirabella Jamie, Brooke Johannesen, David Morrison, Phillip Robinson, Emma Rossoff, Mai Snow, Simone Thornton, William Warden, and Sophie White.

Curated by ICOSA's Madeline Irvine, this show is a group exhibition that features art by more than 30 artists whose work explores the environment, nature, and climate change.

ICOSA: Upwelling

PrintAustin’s annual juried exhibition features national and international artists at ICOSA, showcasing an independent survey of the traditions and innovations of contemporary printmaking – including lithography, relief, intaglio, silk screen, and monotype – juried this year by lithographer Mark Pascale of the Art Institute of Chicago.

ICOSA: The Contemporary Print

“What will you do with your one wild and precious life?” asks the poet Mary Oliver. So do the artists Amanda McInerney and Lana Waldrep Appl, taking inspiration from Oliver’s question to create works highlighting the small but important beauties in our lives. McInerney’s work presents bold, botanical elements through mediums from print to stitched mixed-media art, confident graphics speaking against the unknowns in the world. Appl is a perfect highlight with that, her object-based work (showing plants, toys, ceramics) begging us to consider what is useful and actually important in the small moments. – Cat McCarrey
